About the Artist

Hi, My name is Jhadai McDonald. I am a self-taught artist who specializes in acrylic and oil paintings. I remember at the age of three, I had an assignment to draw a picture of my family. I began working on this artwork drawing the best stick figures a three year old could create. However; my mother (love her dearly) corrected me by teaching me how to "add meat on the bones".

I share this memory with everyone who asks me, "how did you learn how to draw?". To answer this question, honestly, I don't believe I was taught how to draw. Instead, I was guided on how to see beyond what was visible- a gift recognized and nutured. This has allowed me to create from a place of curiousity and innovation. It was not until my freshman year of college when I decided to venture into the world of painting. I still remember my first official acrylic painting- a seagull on the horizon on a tiny canvas. I enjoyed how painting really brought my artwork to life so I decided to invest in this skill. 

Most of the art featured on this website are inspired by things I have come to adore, things that have impacted my life and things I would like to inspire in others. I hope you enjoy your time here and please do return to see what I create next- because I am always being inspired.
